S+H CONSTRUCTION HONORED WITH CAMBRIDGE HISTORICAL COMMISSION AWARD

S+H Construction, Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts, one of the greater Boston area’s premier residential renovation and custom home building companies, is pleased to be recognized by the Cambridge Historical Commission’s Fifteenth Annual Preservation Recognition Program for their renovation work on 120 year old home on Brattle Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

One of nine homes honored during the festive evening, the project was a whole house interior and exterior renovation that took the team at S+H Construction along with the architectural firm of Charles Myer & Partners of Cambridge nearly a year and a half to complete. Exterior details were preserved and restored, new windows with historically-correct details to match were installed, and stonework on the façade were matched and applied.

“We are honored to win the Cambridge Historical Commission Award and to be in the fine company of the other wonderful home restoration projects around Cambridge,” notes Alex Slive, co-president of S+H Construction. “There were many challenging pieces of this project; one of the most difficult was matching the puddingstone foundation that had been original to the home. Our company kept the sharp attention to every detail to ensure the integrity of the home. We worked with the commission to get it just right.”

The annual Cambridge Preservation Recognition Program, inaugurated in 1997 by the Historical Commission, celebrates outstanding historical preservation projects and honors property owners who conserve and protect the city’s architecture. Held at Story Chapel, in Mount Auburn Cemetery on May 25th, 2011, the honorable David Maher, Mayor of the city of Cambridge presented the awards.
