Safety Program.
For more than 10 years, S + H
Construction has had an excellent safety program in place.
The safety of our employees is
the # 1 priority of our company. Construction is a dangerous business
and we have learned that the best methods of keeping people safe is
through education and presenting the message of safety over and over
again. This effort is accomplished in a number of ways:
-
Tool Box Talks:
Fifteen-minute safety presentations at the job site every one to two
weeks on a variety of subjects (fall protection, electrical safety,
etc).
-
Companywide Safety
Meetings: At least twice a year, conducted by professional safety
trainers.
-
S + H Safety Manual: A
condensed version is given to all S + H employees, while job
supervisors have the complete manual with them on the job sites.
-
Site Inspectors and
Reports: Approximately two inspections are conducted per month, by
Applegate Associates, a safety compliance consulting company hired
by S + H Construction.
-
Self-Inspections and
Reports: Approximately two inspections per month are conducted by
the S + H Construction Safety Committee.
-
Safety Committee Meetings:
S + H administrative, management, and field personnel meet on a
monthly basis to discuss issues, injuries, and ways to improve
safety.
-
Special Training: S + H
Construction has paid for specialized training for OSHA regulations,
first aid, and personnel lifts.
All of these measures have had a
noticeable effect on reducing job-related injuries over the years. Our
workers are safer, our losses are lower, and the home or business owner
can rest assured that the work at their site is being performed in a
safe manner.
By the way, for your own
protection, always make sure that the contractor you hire provides you
with a current certificate of insurance for worker’s
compensation and general liability.
