The past couple of months have presented us with challenges we never expected and tested us in many ways. We so much appreciate how our customers and partners have navigated through these changing conditions with S+H Construction.
As Massachusetts starts to re-open, we are anxious to fully return to doing what we love – building beautiful spaces. In doing this, we will continue to exceed the safety guidelines established by our governor and local building departments. It’s our number one priority to keep our customers, employees, and community safe.
Below, I’ve included an outline of our safety protocols. Since this is new territory, there will likely be changes, but we will be sure to keep you updated.

- Maintain a minimum of 6-foot distance from others
- Limit gatherings
- Wear face coverings at all times
- Stagger the trades, as necessary, to reduce density and maintain social distancing
- Reduce the amount of contact between S+H employees, by creating crews that mostly stay together; and encouraging office people (like project managers) to work at home, when practical.
- Discourage workers from using each other’s tools and equipment
- Disinfect high-touch areas daily
- Frequently wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at provided wash stations, particularly when arriving or leaving the job site.
- Require workers to stay home, and get tested, if they’re sick
- Require employees to inform their supervisor (Ed or Sarah) if they or a household member has been diagnosed with Covid-19
- Assign a site-specific Covid-19 supervisor to monitor compliance
- Maintain a daily attendance log of all workers and visitors
If an S+H Employee or Subcontractor Tests Positive for COVID-19
- S+H’s owner (Sarah) will notify the homeowner
- S+H will use our log to identify people who’ve been in contact with the sick worker over the previous two weeks and notify them
- Workers who came in significant contact with the COVID-positive person won’t be let back to work for two weeks – except for job supervisors who
- are asymptomatic and can work alone in an empty house
- If there’s work that can be done with a separate crew (like roofing, for example), with minimal S+H direction, that work can continue
