This apartment is located on the top two floors of an elegant 1876 brick townhouse in Boston’s Back Bay, originally designed by renowned architect W. Whitney Lewis. He specialized in residential renovation in the Boston area, and designed notable structures such as Harvard Medical School. We performed an extensive renovation on the townhouse apartment, which included straightening the interior plaster surfaces of the (very unaligned) mansard roof, renovation of the kitchen and bathrooms, and improvement of living areas and closet storage. An interesting feature was a hammered metal backsplash in the kitchen. Most systems and finishes were replaced / updated. The renovation considered the views of the Charles River, and the design accommodates an active family of four. The owners hired Annie Hall, interior designer, to help them reimagine the space.
