Renovations & Custom Homes
How We Do What We Do
Renovating or building a custom home is exciting for you, but it’s also exciting for us, because we love making people happy and building beautiful things. We’re 100% committed to giving our best to every project we work on for every client we work with. Guiding the process and helping our clients feel comfortable and informed is big part of our job. And we take it seriously.
Landscaping & Sitework
The outside of your house is every bit as important as the inside.
Not only do we build exceptional new homes and do renovations that make your current home feel new, we also create jaw-dropping landscapes that include plantings, stone walls, patios, pathways, outdoor kitchens, and water features. We also do the work you don’t see: foundations, waterproofing, footings, drainage, etc. With the talented mix of our Landscape and Sitework Division, the area’s top landscape architects, and our construction team all working together, your building and landscape projects are efficiently and seamlessly coordinated for results that wow.
And you don’t need to do new construction or a renovation to use our landscape services–we’re also available for stand-alone site work as well as landscape projects.
Basement Water Proofing
An S+H Construction Invention: The Dry Basement
We’ve found that one of the most difficult issues you can face as a homeowner is dealing with a wet or moldy basement, especially if you’re using that area as living space. Effective solutions are scarce, can be exorbitantly expensive, and unfortunately, most don’t work. This is why we’ve developed our game-changing Basement Waterproofing Method. It works so well that in the 10 years we’ve been using it, we’ve had only two clients call us back to report a minor water problem, and they were easily fixable.
Waterproofing an old foundation is challenging when done from the exterior of a home since it often involves extensive excavation, as well as a significant disruption of established and costly landscape and plantings. Our system is different—it’s implemented from the interior of the wall and works for fieldstone, brick, or concrete, necessitating no work outside your home.
By filling capillaries in the mortar and concrete with crystals that grow in the presence of water, we’re able to thoroughly prevent water AND moisture migration. An added benefit of our Basement Waterproofing System is that it consolidates and strengthens the foundation wall, joining loose stones and bricks, providing many decades of renewed structural improvement.. Win, win!
In some houses, we can achieve significant improvement in water infiltration by simply redirecting downspouts away from the foundation. However, if your home is located in an area with a high-water table or has hydrostatic pressure against a portion of the foundation wall because it is facing an uphill grade, our Basement Waterproofing Method can easily and efficiently solve the problem.
